Makei Holds Bilateral Meetings at UN Headquarters
OREANDA-NEWS. On September 22, 2016 at the UN Headquarters the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the President of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Peter Tomson.
V.Makei commended the beginning of the work of P.Tomson in his capacity of the President of the United Nations General Assembly and noted his fruitful and long-lasting cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the United Nations.
Foreign Minister expressed full support of the Republic of Belarus to initiatives of the President of the General Assembly, first of all, regarding creation of global mechanisms to facilitate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
President of the General Assembly, in his turn, highly estimated the contribution of the Republic of Belarus to the UN activities, as well as noble principles, which the country consistently promotes in the Organisation.
The sides shared the views regarding the importance of full refreshment of the perception of collective responsibility of the UN member states for the status of business in the organization and agreed on joint work pertaining to the increase of the authority of the General Assembly and revitalization of its’ activity.
