OREANDA-NEWS. Six people died and six were injured as a result of a strong earthquake in Mexico. This was reported by the National Center for Communications and Operations for Civil Protection.

On June 23, an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred 23 kilometers from Crucesita (Oaxaco State). The US Tsunami Warning Center reported of a hazard of tsunami up to three meters high in some parts of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. After the main shock, 653 aftershocks were recorded, the strongest of which was of magnitude 4.9. About 500 buildings, including 15 medical centers, were damaged in the territory of Oaxaco. Landslides damaged eight highways. The power system of the capital city Oaxaco de Juarez was disrupted. Later, electricity has been restored. The tsunami warning has been canceled.
