OREANDA-NEWS. A group of armed men in police uniforms robbed a Colombian conference of Catholic bishops in Bogota, the police offer a reward for helping to capture them.

According to the director of criminal investigations of the Colombian police, Fernando Murillo Orrego, whose words were published on Twitter by the department, “from 8 to 10 people, pretending to be representatives of the authorities, entered a religious institution, foreign currency in the amount of 55 million pesos, which is equal to $ 15 thousand."

According to local media reports, the criminals tied and gagged everyone present at the conference, locked them in one of the rooms and fled in four cars.

The police said that the crime was committed by an organized gang that planned this robbery in advance, and assigned $ 5,500 rewards for helping to capture them. More than 15 investigators from various departments joined the investigation.

The communiqué of the bishops' conference, published after the robbery, states: "We believe in the grace of God and the effective work of the authorities in quickly clarifying these facts, which we deeply regret, but which do not obscure the celebration of these holy days, which constitute the center of the Christian faith."
