OREANDA-NEWS. Relations between Belarus and the United States do not interfere with the implementation of Minsk allied relations with Russia. This was stated by Ambassador of Belarus to the Russian Federation Vladimir Semashko in an interview published on Thursday with the Russian media.

“We have no plans, as they like to say, to “leave Belarus to the west” and the intensification of our relations with Washington does not prevent us from continuing to realize allied relations with Russia. The Russian Federation will remain our main ally and strategic partner”, the diplomat said .

The visit of the head of the American diplomacy Michael Pompeo to Minsk took place on February 1. According to the results of the negotiations, both sides recognized that a long period of lack of dialogue led only to negative results. The United States and Belarus then confirmed their readiness to return ambassadors after more than a decade of absence.

On March 3, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said he was counting on US assistance in creating logistics facilities for the supply of oil to the country, in particular from the Baltic direction. Pompeo previously expressed US readiness to provide Belarus with oil "100%".
