OREANDA-NEWS. British authorities refused to issue a visa to an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to participate in a conference on media freedom.  This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian Embassy in London.

It is noted that this employee was accredited at the forum.  Moscow considers the “wild” decision of the British authorities, who themselves invited the Russian side to participate in the conference.

The diplomatic department clarified that London had previously invited the Russian delegate and accredited him, but in the end “had broken the trip”.  The embassy added that the British could "adopt" the practice of the United States, which "are famous for such excesses."

The Russian office expressed regret over the path chosen by London, which leads to ever new violations of international law and generally accepted norms of diplomatic communication.
