OREANDA-NEWS. China's Deputy Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui said at a press conference on Thursday that China has recently introduced a requirement to provide not only a PCR test for COVID, but also a serological antibody test for anyone wishing to enter the country. The authorities attribute this innovation to a sharp increase in the number of imported cases of coronavirus infection in the past month.

The Deputy Minister noted that the second wave and its threat are an extremely harsh fact, and cited specific figures to prove these words. To date, more than 3.6 thousand import cases of COVID-19 have been registered in China, a rapid increase in import cases was recorded in October, currently, an average of 16.6 import cases per day are detected, which is 45% more than in September.

According to him, in the first 10 days of November alone, 260 imported cases of coronavirus were detected. Therefore, he is confident that the Chinese must not lose their vigilance and must be extremely serious in this matter, and at the moment the highest priority of the Chinese government is to work to prevent and control the epidemic in every possible way.

He explained exactly what preventive measures will now be taken by the authorities in accordance with the real situation. Firstly, for visitors, a serological test is added to detect antibodies, and secondly, the period of validity of the PCR test for COVID before boarding the plane is reduced from 72 to 48 hours, and thirdly, another test is added at the transit point, and is also tightened visa policy for countries with a high level of epidemiological risk.
