OREANDA-NEWSChina has confirmed its intention to participate in the summit of the leaders of the countries that are permanent members of the UN Security Council (Russia, Great Britain, China, the United States and France), proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and also offered its assistance to Russia in preparing for such a meeting. This was announced at a press conference on Monday by Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov.

“We see what is happening in the world. And it's no coincidence that the proposal of our president, made recently during a visit to Israel, to hold a meeting of leaders of the states - permanent members of the UN Security Council, was the first to approve China".

“Moreover, our Chinese friends were not limited to simply expressing approval, they told us that they were ready to actively participate in the preparation, if other countries express their consent, are ready to express their proposals and wishes. I'm sure that they will be constructive”, the diplomat added.

On January 23, speaking at the World Holocaust Forum, Putin proposed convening a summit of the “five” permanent members of the UN Security Council in 2020. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that China and France have already supported this initiative.
