OREANDA-NEWSTurkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday that he had informed his American counterpart Donald Trump of his readiness to acquire Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems if Washington agrees to provide favorable conditions. “We can overcome the differences over Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems and fifth-generation American fighter aircraft F-35. I told the president about my desire to buy a Patriot if there was a good offer”, Erdogan emphasized.

In September 2017, the Russian Federation announced the conclusion of a contract with Turkey for the supply of S-400 worth $ 2.5 billion. Ankara will receive a regiment set (two divisions). The contract implies a partial transfer of production technologies to the Turkish side. The first deliveries began on July 12th. The US and NATO are actively opposing the acquisition of S-400 by Turkey.

"Turkey is determined to open a new page in relations with the United States. Ankara and Washington are linked by close partnership ties. Turkey and the United States adhere to a common position on the fight against terrorist organizations that threaten the national security of our countries", Erdogan said.
