OREANDA-NEWS. Estonian Prime Minister Kaya Kallas visited the territories controlled by Kiev in Donbass, including those near the contact line, and got acquainted with the work of local checkpoints. A message about this appeared on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaya Kallas supported Ukraine's aspirations to obtain EU membership and named the necessary conditions for this. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Communication Bureau of the government of the republic.

According to her, a necessary requirement for any country wishing to join the EU is the harmonization of legislation in accordance with European standards and its practical implementation at all levels of government. Among other conditions, the politician named the fight against corruption and judicial reform.

The Prime Minister noted that it took Estonia 12 years of hard work to integrate with the EU and NATO. "Ukraine's efforts at the right time will also be rewarded," she said.

Earlier, Callas promised to purchase 70 thousand seedlings for the territories controlled by Kiev in the Donbass to restore forests damaged by fires. She stressed that Estonia will continue to help Ukraine defend itself against "Russian aggression" - both financially and at the diplomatic level.
