OREANDA-NEWSThe European Union will analyze the possible economic and other effects of the ban imposed by the US authorities on visits of EU citizens, said the representative of the European Commission at a briefing in Brussels.

The EC added that so far there have been no contacts with the American side to clarify the decision. “We are sure that such contacts will be, and the logic of the decision will be explained to us”, the European Commission emphasized.

US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will ban entry from Europe except Great Britain from March 13 for 30 days, as the EU hasn't responded sufficiently to the spreading coronavirus. The decision doesn't apply to individuals with permanent residency status in the United States, immediate family members of US citizens, and certain other individuals.

On March 11, the World Health Organization announced the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19 as a pandemic. About 120 thousand people in more than 100 countries have already been infected in the world, most have recovered, but more than 4 thousand have died.
