OREANDA-NEWS German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer questioned the use of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This information is reported by the NTV channel.

During a debate organized by the IFRI think tank and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the minister said that at the moment there is an acute question whether the gas pipeline will be used, "whether gas will be transported, what volumes of gas will be transported." At the same time, the minister noted that she does not see an opportunity to stop the almost finished project.

Earlier, Kramp-Karrenbauer said that the volume of gas transportation in the future via Nord Stream 2 should be made dependent on the "behavior of Russia".

Nord Stream 2 envisages the construction of two lines of a gas pipeline from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The project is actively opposed by the United States, which is promoting its liquefied natural gas to the EU, as well as Ukraine and a number of European countries. Washington imposed sanctions on the gas pipeline in December 2019. The Federal Republic of Germany supports the completion of the gas pipeline and rejects the unilateral extraterritorial sanctions of the United States.
