OREANDA-NEWS  Delegates of the party "Alternative for Germany" called for the country's withdrawal from the European Union during the congress in Dresden. This information is reported by the DPA agency.

The decision of the congress says that Germany must withdraw from the European Union, because it is necessary to create a new European economic community, which will pursue common interests. 550 delegates supported this proposal.

At the same time, the co-chairman of the party, Jörg Moyten, opposed this position. Representatives of other parties also criticized the statement. In particular, the deputy of the Bundestag from the "Free Democratic Party" Alexander Lambsdorff accused the "Alternative for Germany" of "stupid nationalism". In his opinion, the exit of Germany would be the end of the European Union and the internal market.

In March, the co-chair of the Alternative for Germany faction and member of the Bundestag, Alice Weidel, called for the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions and the completion of the Nord Stream 2 project.
