OREANDA-NEWS. In Saudi Arabia, an explosion occurred during a ceremony at a cemetery in the city of Jeddah marking the 102nd anniversary of the end of the First World War. This was reported by the TV channel Al Jazeera with reference to the French Foreign Ministry.

It is known that the event was attended by diplomats from several European countries, including employees of the French consulate. Several people were injured. The Ministry strongly condemned this “cowardly, unjustifiable attack.” Its representatives urged citizens of France in Jeddah to be careful when moving around the city and to stay away from crowds.

There was an explosion at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, four people, including one Greek, were slightly wounded, an unnamed Greek official informed. The four victims were also reported by Reuters agency, citing one of the Greek officials.

Television channel Al Ekhbariya reported that a cordon was set up around the cemetery, and the situation on the spot is stable. According to journalists, an employee of the Greek consulate and Saudi Arabian security officer were slightly wounded.
