OREANDA-NEWS. A fighter jet MiG-21 of the Serbian Air Force crashed during a scheduled flight. This was reported on September 25 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the republic.

“During the performance of a regular flight mission in the morning at about 9:00 am [7:00 UTC. – Ed.], a MiG-21 aircraft of the Serbian Army fell near the village of Brasina located near the town of Mali Zvornik,” the message says.

According to the Serbian Ministry of Defense, a rescue team has been sent to the scene. The fate of the crew is not reported. Some local media suggest that the pilot died. According to some reports, there were two people on board of the airplane.

MiG-21 is a supersonic jet fighter and interceptor aircraft, designed by the Mikoyan–Gurevich Design Bureau in the USSR. About 60 countries all over the world have acquired the planes of this model, and they still serve many nations.
