OREANDA-NEWS. In the center of the Swedish city of Gothenburg, an explosion occurred in a residential building, reports the Nordic News portal citing local media.

According to preliminary data, from 20 to 25 people were hospitalized; at least three were seriously injured.

The Aftonbladet newspaper writes that the explosion occurred on Tuesday at about 05:00 (06:00 Moscow time), followed by a fire: fires are located in several buildings at once. From 100 to 200 people were evacuated.

According to the firefighters, who are quoted by the media, some residents had to be rescued from the balconies, while others left the apartments, descending on makeshift ropes from sheets.

The reason for the incident is still unclear.

Previously, 25 people were hospitalized in an explosion in a residential building in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, as reported by the Nordic News portal, citing information from the Swedish media. Five people were sent to the hospital by ambulance, another 18 by bus.

It is noted that the explosion in a residential building located in the central part of the city took place today at about 05:00 local time. In addition to the explosion, a fire also broke out - fires are located in several buildings. Between 100 and 200 people were evacuated.

Of the total number of victims, at least three people were seriously injured. The cause of the explosion has not yet been established. Now the police and rescue services are working at the scene.
