OREANDA-NEWSEight cases in claims of Ukrainian companies for $ 12 billion against Russia in connection with reunification with the Crimea were accepted for consideration in international investment arbitrations. This was announced in an interview with the Russian media by the authorized representative of the Russian Federation at the ECHR - Deputy Minister of Justice Mikhail Halperin.

"Today, eight such cases are in the active stage in lawsuits by Ukrainian individuals and legal entities for a total of more than $ 12 billion. Several more arbitration notifications have also been filed, which could turn into full-fledged processes", Halperin said.

Earlier, in January 2017, Ukraine filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation with the United Nations International Court, citing Russia's violation of two conventions: the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
