OREANDA-NEWS The Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, as well as the two Swedish cities of Stockholm and Åre, applied to host the Winter Olympics in 2026.

Applications supported by the International Olympic Committee.

The committee’s president, Thomas Bach, said that the committee had decided to nominate both candidates because their applications met the requirements of the agenda.

The capital of the Games-2026 will be announced at the 134th session of the IOC, which will be held on June 24 in Lausanne. Earlier, the IOC Evaluation Commission, headed by Octavian Morariu, visited candidate cities with inspection visits, during which reports were prepared to help IOC members make a final decision.
