OREANDA-NEWS. Poland may build a defensive structure on the border with Ukraine, said the head of the republic's ruling party, Deputy Prime Minister for Security Jaroslaw Kaczynski in an interview with Gazeta Polska Codziennie.

"I do not exclude the possibility that the already under construction fence on the border with Belarus can be strengthened, continued to the border with Ukraine," Kaczynski said. He explained that this option is being considered in connection with the ongoing border crisis on the border with Belarus. “Perhaps we should be prepared for years of tension and aggression,” Kaczynski said.

Earlier it was reported that Poland, against the background of the situation with migrants, is starting the construction of a protective structure on the border with Belarus. It is planned to build an engineering fence 180 kilometers long, 5 meters high. The structure will be equipped with night vision cameras, motion sensors, day vision cameras.

Prior to this, Poland adopted a law on the construction of a capital barrier on the border with Belarus. There is currently a temporary barbed wire fence.

Lithuania, Latvia and Poland recently reported an increase in the number of detained illegal migrants from the Middle East and Africa on the border with Belarus, Minsk was accused of creating a migration crisis. Minsk stated that they were not the organizers of the migration crisis. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko also noted that Minsk will no longer restrain the flow of illegal migrants to the EU countries: because of the West's sanctions, there is "neither money, nor effort." The border guards of Belarus have repeatedly stated about the forcible expulsion of migrants by Lithuania, Poland and Latvia to the Belarusian territory.
