OREANDA-NEWSThe Foreign Ministry of Latvia called on Tuesday the Polish ambassador Monik Mikhalishin to discuss ways to return to the homeland the inhabitants of this Baltic republic, who were stuck in a multi-kilometer line on the border of Germany and Poland. This was announced by head of the department Edgars Rinkevics on Facebook.

"Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to find an effective solution, despite the efforts", he said. Earlier, the Latvian Foreign Ministry reported that due to the decision of the Polish authorities to close the borders, 550 people could not return to Latvia.

As the Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu informed the ERR portal, Estonians cannot get home through Poland. According to him, on March 15, Poland officially announced that if the Baltic countries submit lists of their citizens, then on March 16 they will be able to pass through the territory of Poland. “Unfortunately, this didn't materialize”, the minister said. “Poland has put forward additional conditions”.

According to the Estonian Foreign Ministry, 73 Estonian citizens registered to cross the Polish border. According to the ERR portal, a line of vehicles with a length of about 40 km was formed on the border between Germany and Poland, in which there are residents of the Baltic countries who want to get home.
