OREANDA-NEWSOn Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian had a telephone conversation, the parties discussed the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (IJAP) on Iran’s nuclear program and the results of parliamentary elections in Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"We agreed to continue taking concrete steps to maintain the IJAP and reduce tensions around Iran", the ministry said. “There was a detailed exchange of views on the results of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added. “The ministers reaffirmed the need for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements”.

In addition, as reported by the Foreign Ministry, the ministers identified the cessation of bloodshed and the early restart of the political process in the country without preconditions as the main tasks of the Libyan settlement. "A number of issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed, including a schedule of upcoming contacts", summed up at the ministry.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian had already discussed by phone the situation in the Council of Europe in the light of the upcoming summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly. This is stated in the message of the Russian diplomatic mission.

"The parties also discussed the situation in the Council of Europe on the eve of the beginning of the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly on June 24, and also checked the watches on a wide range of issues of bilateral Russian-French cooperation, including prospects for resuming the work of the Security Cooperation Council", the Foreign Ministry said. The heads of the foreign affairs agencies also exchanged views on the situation in Libya, around Iran and in Ukraine.
