OREANDA-NEWS. The leader of the faction of the German "green" in the Bundestag, as well as the candidate for Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Annalena Berbock, accused Russia of deliberately cutting gas supplies to Europe. She noted that in this way the Kremlin is seeking to speed up the process of launching the Nord Stream-2 (SP-2) pipeline. The newspaper Die Zeit reports her words.

The German politician also said that European countries need to comply with EU legislation on gas transportation. This means that the gas supplier and the gas producing operator must be different companies. For this reason, Berbock is in favor of refusing the Russian corporation Gazprom in issuing a license to supply gas through JV-2.

Berbock also noted that Russia is "playing poker" with the supply of the resource, despite the high gas prices in Europe. “The current high gas prices are primarily the result of high demand and low supply,” said the Greens leader. She also noted that high gas prices are "a strategic decision of Gazprom against the Europeans."

Earlier, the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland Michal Kurtyka accused Russia of the rise in energy prices in Europe. He noted that the authorities of European countries must urgently take measures to solve the problem that threatens industry and European citizens.
