OREANDA-NEWSVenezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Monday that he will travel to Russia in the coming hours, where he plans to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin."Tonight I am going to Russia on an official visit to meet our friend, President Putin", he said during a speech broadcast on Twitter.

According to President Maduro, during his stay in Moscow, he wants to meet with business representatives: “We will consider the dynamics of development of our bilateral relations and the possibilities to give them an additional impetus”, he added. Earlier, Russian officials said that Putin would soon meet with leaders of other countries as part of the Valdai club meeting in Sochi. The XVI Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club will be held from September 30 to October 3, 2019 in Sochi. This year's theme is "The Dawn of the East and the World Political System".

Venezuela considers Russia as an important partner in areas such as military-technical cooperation (MTC) and energy, as well as in trade. This was stated by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in an interview with the Russian television channel on Monday. In July, during a trip to Caracas, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov discussed preparations for Maduro’s visit to Russia. The event will be very important for international partnerships and further development of foreign policy and trade of these countries.

Earlier, Venezuelan Vice President Delsey Rodriguez visited Moscow from August 19 to 21. Rodriguez was accompanied by a delegation during his visit to Moscow, which included Venezuelan Minister of Economy and Finance Simon Serpa, Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Gil and Central Bank Deputy Chairman Soil Hernandez.
