OREANDA-NEWS The European Union fears that there may be "mass starvation" due to the consequences around Ukraine, including waves of migrants from North Africa. This was reported by the Spanish publication El País, according to Gazeta.ru. According to the newspaper, such conclusions can be drawn from a report by European institutions.

The document listed the growing risk of "catastrophic mass starvation" in North African states. This circumstance can turn into "new waves of social protest in neighboring regions, including in the direction of the European Union.

High instability and growing risks of fragmentation of the international community" are not excluded. In this connection, if the scenario materializes, Italy and Spain will be "in the front line" in the mass migration of people.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics.
