OREANDA-NEWSApple-based manufacturing in China is in jeopardy due to the coronavirus, Bloomberg writes citing experts, as well as the Nikkei Asian Review citing sources from the company's suppliers. This may be due to quarantine, which will prevent employees from going to work.

In particular, almost all iPhones are created in two factories of Taiwanese collectors Foxconn (a subsidiary of Hon Hai) and Pegatron, located about 500 km from Wuhan, where the outbreak began, but this distance “does not protect them from the consequences”, the business agency writes. In China, about 10 thousand people work directly for Apple, several million more are involved in the supply chain for gadgets of companies such as iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch, and have been at home in recent days due to the holidays in connection with the Chinese New Year.

It was not known whether Apple asked employees not to go to work longer due to the spread of the virus. However, the American media adds, some US banks and financial firms, including Citigroup, have required employees in Hong Kong to stay home for two weeks.
