OREANDA-NEWSTurkey is considering the interaction of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and fifth-generation fighter aircraft F-35. This was announced on Friday by the Minister of National Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar. "The process of deploying S-400 in Turkish territory continues, as does the training of Turkish military specialists in Russia. The issue of compatibility of S-400 and F-35 is being worked out. I hope that these efforts will bring a positive result", the Anatolian agency quoted him as saying.

Akar stressed that Ankara does not intend to "abandon one of the types of weapons in favor of another". "Even if Russian systems cannot work in parallel with the F-35, then we will find the most convenient formula for action", the head of the department added.

The Turkish minister also assured that the republic "does not intend to revise the S-400 contract with the Russian Federation". "These systems will take up combat duty. Everything is going according to the plan, let no one doubt it", said Akar. Negotiations between Turkish and US officials should be held in Ankara on Friday, during which the parties will consider the possibility of resolving disagreements over the supply of Russian air defense systems to the republic.
