OREANDA-NEWSThe Moldovan authorities did not receive confirmation that the former leader of the Democratic Party, the oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, who was wanted by both Moldovan and Russian law enforcers, had fled the United States. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic Pavel Voiku, commenting on a briefing on this issue in the local media.

"While there is no official confirmation on Interpol channels that Plahotniuc was really detained, we were not officially informed about this", Voiku said. The mayor of Balti and the leader of Our Party, Renato Usatii, announced the detention of the oligarch the day before at a briefing on social networks. "Vladimir Plahotniuc was detained by US law enforcement agencies in the United States yesterday," he said, noting that the reason was "violation of migration law".

However, after two hours, Plahotniuc himself denied this news. “Everything is fine with me, and I am free”, he wrote on his Facebook page. At the same time, he noted that he decided to write for those “who really worry” about him, but warned that he would not do this every time.
