OREANDA-NEWS Office NASA and its specialists discovered the planet GJ 357 d which is potentially livable. It is the closest to the Earth, with all the necessary criteria, including a dense atmosphere and the presence of water.

The star GJ 357 is located in the constellation Hydra and is located in just 31 light years from the solar system. This allows scientists to be able to conduct a detailed analysis of it. At the center of this system is a red dwarf several times smaller and darker than the sun. At least 3 planets revolve around it, the farthest of them is called GJ 357 d.

It falls under the description of "Super Earth" due to its size, rocky surface and a large amount of water. This planet is 22% larger than the Earth and 3.4 times heavier. She makes a revolution around its body in just 56 days. Given the radiation power of GJ 357, this is enough to maintain the temperature necessary for life on its surface.

At the moment, scientists cannot study this habitable planet in the way they would like to. Soon, several new and modern satellites will be sent into space, having great power and potential for exploring distant planets. Scientists believe that the GJ 357 d may not only be suitable for life, but also already have some of live elements on its surface or in the oceans.
