OREANDA-NEWS The Defense Ministers of the DPRK and South Korea No Gwang Chul and Song Yong Mu signed a comprehensive agreement in the military sphere following the summit of the Chairman of the state Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-UN and South Korean President Moon Jae-In. The press center of the inter-Korean summit, organized in Seoul, is broadcasting from the event.

The document, as it became known to journalists, includes, in particular, the provision on the work of the parties on the transformation of the "demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas into a zone of peace and prosperity."  Following the meeting, the leaders of the two Koreas signed a joint statement, the implementation of which will bring the "era of peace and prosperity" closer. The South Korean leader stressed that the solution to the problem of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is close.

The meeting of the leaders of the DPRK and South Korea in one-on-one took place in the state residence "Pakhlavon", where during the summit live Moon Jae-In. As a result, the heads of state signed a joint document.

From 18 to 20 September, the capital of the DPRK hosts the fifth in history and the third inter-Korean summit this year. The first two rounds were held in Pyongyang in 2000 and 2007 with the participation of South Korean presidents Kim Dae-Jung and No Mu-Hyun and the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il. Moon Jae-In said that the parties decided to create a joint Committee consisting of representatives of the military command of the two countries.

Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko noted that the summit took a powerful step to create an atmosphere of trust between the two countries.

"I closely followed the summit. We sure that it was a very successful summit without exaggeration, the meeting of the leaders of North and South Korea was very productive," she said.

"The atmosphere was friendly, consistent, it was felt that both leaders on the same wave, want to achieve peace, solve the problems of denuclearization", — said the speaker of the Federation Council.
