OREANDA-NEWSThe Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Wojciech Savitsky sent a letter to the State Duma, as well as, most likely, to other parliaments of the PACE member countries asking those who have recently visited China or Italy to refrain from visiting Council of Europe offices because of threats of coronavirus.

This was announced on Tuesday in her Telegram channel by the adviser to the speaker of the lower house on media Anastasia Kashevarova. "PACE Secretary General Wojciech Savitsky sent a letter to the State Duma, in which a warning about coronavirus is for members of delegations", she wrote.

“For all persons who must arrive at the Council of Europe if they returned or traveled through China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau), Singapore, South Korea, or the entire region of Lombardy and Veneto in Italy: they should not visit the Council of Europe (Strasbourg, Paris and any other organization’s offices), and must remain at home for 14 days from the moment they return", Kashevarova quotes the text of the letter.

According to the schedule on the PACE website, a meeting of one of the assembly committees will be held in Paris on Wednesday, and a meeting of the PACE Bureau is scheduled for Thursday. Russia will be represented by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy.
