OREANDA-NEWSThe Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) calls on Russia to implement the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and intends to monitor the process of amending the Constitution of the Russian Federation. This is stated in the PACE draft resolution on confirmation of the credentials of the Russian delegation, a copy of which is at the disposal of the Russian media.

"The Assembly invites the monitoring committee to closely monitor the process of amending the Constitution, which is currently underway in the Russian Federation, and clearly emphasizes the obligations of each member state to comply with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights," the document says.

The draft resolution also proposes that the monitoring committee submit a full report on this subject as soon as possible. On January 23, the State Duma unanimously adopted in the first reading a draft amendment to the Constitution, introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, February 11, 15 days have been set aside for preparing amendments to the second reading, which may take place.
