OREANDA-NEWS The company PepsiCo, one of the world's largest manufacturers of soft drinks, will buy Israeli SodaStream for $3.2 billion. This information was reported in a press release PepsiCo on Monday.

"According to the agreement between the two companies, PepsiCo has agreed to purchase all issued shares of SodaStream. The price is $144 per share. The total cost of the transaction will be $ 3.2 billion. It will be paid at the expense of available funds PepsiCo", - reported in a press release.

SodaStream is the world's leading manufacturer of household appliances for the production of carbonated water at home. Thus, the American manufacturer of fizzy drinks intends to promote its brand directly to consumers’ homes.

The parties intend to close the deal by January 2019.  The staff of the company include more than 2 thousand people.  The SodaStream products are sold in 45 countries.  Last year SodaStream profit rose 82% to $26 million.  Turnover grew by 31% to $172 million.

It is noted that during the transaction PepsiCo will pay for the shares of the Israeli company by 32% more than their average value over the past 30 days.

 PepsiCo plans to finance it from its own funds. The boards of Directors of both companies have approved the takeover. But PepsiCo needs to get approval from the voting shareholders of SodaStream, as well as from market regulators.

 PepsiCo Inc. owns brands Pepsi, 7up, Mirinda, Diet Pepsi, Tropicana, Lay's, Cheetos, Doritos and others. The history of PepsiCo in Russia began with the presentation Pepsi drink of Don Kendall - the company's President - in 1959. It happened at the exhibition of American products in Moscow. In 1974, at the plant in Novorossiysk, the company began production of beverages under a franchise agreement, and then PepsiCo bought a Russian company "Wimm-bill-Dann" for $ 5.8 billion in 2011.

The company SodaStream was founded in 1903 in Britain. The company producing devices for the production of soda at home and various types of concentrated syrups. In 1998 SodaStream was bought by the Israeli Soda-Club. In 2007, the controlling stake in the company was transferred to the Israeli investment group Fortissimo Capital Fund. The headquarters of SodaStream is located in Lod, Israel. The company was listed on the Nasdaq in 2010.
