OREANDA-NEWS.  Belarus wants to escalate the situation with illegal migrants "storming" the borders of the European Union countries, possibly with fatal consequences for people, said Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk. He said this on Polish Radio.

"We are likely to observe an attempt of forced border crossing by migrants. The regime [of Belarusian President Aliaksandr Lukashenka] does not leave any attempts to commit provocations,"- the diplomat said. He accused Minsk of "transporting refugees"- to the Polish borders.

Wawrzyk is one of the politicians who reacted to the footage that appeared on the network, which shows a column of people walking along the highway near the Polish-Belarusian border. It is supposed to be another crowd of migrants who are going to storm the EU border.

Lithuania, Latvia and Poland have recently reported an increase in apprehensions of illegal migrants on the border with Belarus, accusing Minsk of creating a migration crisis. Minsk denies all the accusations. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko noted that Minsk would no longer hold back the flow of illegal migrants to EU countries: due to Western sanctions, there is "no money and no strength" to do so. Belarusian border guards have repeatedly claimed that Lithuania, Poland and Latvia have forcibly expelled migrants to Belarusian territory.

Due to the situation, the president of Poland introduced a state of emergency on the territories bordering Belarus, and the army and police are involved in border protection.

According to the latest data, more than 30 thousand people have tried to cross the border from Poland to Belarus illegally since the beginning of this year.
