OREANDA-NEWS. The new president of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova spoke in favor of developing a dialogue with Russia. She announced this after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“I am concerned that the current relations with Russia are, so to speak, frozen ... But I insist that we should make efforts and cooperate with Russia. Of course, with a full respect for values and principles, as well as human rights and the rule of law. ”

During the conversation, Stoltenberg and Chaputova discussed, in particular, “Russia's violation of the INF Treaty”, as well as “the importance of jointly deciding how NATO will react” to the appearance of new missiles in Russia.

In March, a presidential election was held in Slovakia. Victory for them won an activist and lawyer Zuzana Chaputova. The representative of the extra-parliamentary liberal party “Progressive Slovakia” confidently outstripped the opponent in the second round of voting, the vice-president of the European Commission, Maros Šefčović - 58.4% of the vote against 41.6%.
