OREANDA-NEWS. The Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Krechmer, said that anti-Russian sanctions should be lifted.  According to the head of the federal land, the conflict in the Donbass should be resolved, but the sanctions against Russia in no way help.  He noted that East Germany is counting on close cooperation with the Russian Federation.

“It was right that Russia regained its right to vote in the Council of Europe, and Germany forced the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.  The next step should be the lifting of sanctions, ”said Krechmer.

On the eve of the DPA, citing data from the Eastern Committee of the German Economy (EKGE) reported that the anti-Russian sanctions caused the greatest damage to the economy of Saxony.  According to the study of the organization, the volume of trade in the region with Russia in the period from 2013 to 2018 decreased by 72.5%.
