OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky requires careful preparation, said Yury Ushakov, aide to the Russian leader for international affairs. According to him, no one rejects the possibility of negotiations between the heads of Russia and Ukraine, but all conditions are necessary, RIA Novosti reports.

“No one rejects such an opportunity, but it requires appropriate conditions, and most importantly, very, very, very thorough preparation,” Ushakov said.

The assistant to the president declined to comment further, arguing that the possibility of a meeting between the two leaders had already been discussed more than once.

On June 8, a similar opinion was expressed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He ruled out a meeting between Putin and Zelensky in the near future, as, according to him, any negotiations at the highest level must be well prepared and productive.

On June 12, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he plans to hold telephone conversations with Putin and Zelensky next week. He intends to discuss the issue of creating a safe corridor for the export of grain from Ukraine.
