OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the United States should take the main responsibility for rebuilding Afghanistan's infrastructure, RIA Novosti reported, according to Gazeta.ru.

The president noted that Russia, together with foreign partners, is ready to continue work on the post-conflict reconstruction of Afghanistan, "including within the framework of the Moscow format of Russia-India-Iran-US-DPRK-Pakistan and the five Central Asian republics," and also "to promote the integration of this country into regional infrastructure and logistics projects."

Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, said earlier that the coalition of the West threw in Afghanistan more than 300,000 heavy and light armored vehicles: more than 1,100 armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers, about 40 aircraft and 40 helicopters of different degrees of service, up to 350 artillery pieces, 500 mortars, 250 antitank and antiaircraft systems.

According to him, the weapons abandoned by the Western coalition have become a source of income for local terrorists, who earn money by selling them both inside and outside the country.
