OREANDA-NEWS. The results of the study of the living conditions of the population in Russia should be considered comprehensively, their correct interpretation should include a comparison of the results of previous years, the Rosstat said after the Kremlin’s request to clarify that a third of Russians do not have enough money to buy shoes.

The Office notes that, compared with the situation in 2016, the situation in 2018 on several key indicators - the ability to pay for vital medicines, buy clothes as they wear out, use fruits - has improved. The number of families that can "make end's meet" with difficulty has decreased from 17.4% to 14.6%, while the number of families, all of whose members have the opportunity to buy two pairs of shoes suitable for the season, increased from 50.3 to 63.8%.

"Comprehensive observation of the living conditions of the population is one of the most representative and deepest socio-demographic studies in the Russian Federation. His methodology was created jointly with the best experts of the country and in cooperation with the Higher School of Economics", - writes Rosstat. The agency has conducted four rounds of research since 2011. The next one is scheduled to take place in 2020.

Earlier, Rosstat presented statistics on the financial situation of families in Russia for 2018. In particular, according to the ministry, 35.4% of Russian families do not have enough funds to buy suitable shoes for every family member. A spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, declined to comment on this data and asked Rosstat to clarify the results of the study.
