We are talking about the latest rockets, such as "Avangard", "Burevestnik", "Sarmat" and others, which Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced last year.

The "Avangard" missile attracted the closest attention of the US defense community, the report says.

As Philip Coyle, a member of the board of the American Center for Arms Control and Nonproliferation, notes, the "Sarmat" rocket is dangerous because it has a reduced acceleration phase. In this scenario, US missile defense has less time for decision making and missile damage.

The ability of the new rocket - reduced acceleration time, hypersonic speed and unlimited range - all this "absorbs precious minutes", the magazine notes.

“It will tighten the noose around our necks. These systems complicate and reduce decision-making time. Such changes can threaten stability", - said Jeffrey Lews, an expert on nuclear policy and a professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies at Middlebury (USA).

Lewes is most concerned about the "Burevestnik" missile, the nuclear cruise missile carrying the nuclear warhead. According to American intelligence, the "Burevestnik" has not yet been able to reach speeds of more than 35 km (22 miles), and the power of the rocket may not be disclosed for the next 10 years.

The Pentagon, in turn, is trying to strengthen the defense and develop countermeasures for hypersonic weapons. However, at the moment, no country has a specific solution against hypersound, according to the material.
