OREANDA-NEWS. As Russian diplomats who evacuated Russians from the outbreak of the epidemic told RIA Novosti, discipline and assistance from all over China were the most important factors that helped Wuhan cope with the epidemic.

It is recalled that exactly a year ago, on December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed WHO about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in Wuhan, Hubei province. The causative agent of the disease was a new coronavirus, the infection was officially named COVID-19. Wuhan was cut off from the outside world for 76 days, quarantine was lifted from the city on April 8, and there are currently no coronavirus infected in the city.

The first secretary of the Russian Embassy in China, Maxim Tsygankov, said that when Russian diplomats were in Wuhan and were evacuating Russians, an air corridor was organized in the city to deliver aid.

The diplomat recalled that from seven o'clock in the morning until seven in the evening there was an air corridor, police, military, doctors, food and water were delivered to the city by air. Foreigners flew out at night, and then at 12:00, planes landed almost every minute. As noted by Tsygankov, the help came from the central and regional governments, "the whole of China was united."

His colleague, first secretary of the embassy, Konstantin Nevezhkin, emphasized that the Chinese are indeed very self-disciplined. For example, Russian diplomats saw restrictive tapes stretched near some housing estates in quarantined Wuhan, warning them not to leave the area. But in many places there were no guards, and still people did not come out, realizing that these demands were justified.
