OREANDA-NEWSRussian and Turkish military experts tragically died as a result of the outbreak of terrorist activity in Syria. This is stated in a commentary circulated on Thursday by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“In mid-January, the Russian and Turkish military made another attempt to introduce silence in the Idlib de-escalation zone. But the terrorists not only didn't reduce their combat activity, but, on the contrary, increased their attacks”, the comment says.

"Over the last two weeks of January, more than 1,000 attacks were recorded. The death toll and wounded among Syrian troops and civilians outside the de-escalation zone went to hundreds. Russian and Turkish military experts died tragically. Attempts to attack the Russian Khmeimim airbase with the use of attack drones continue", is emphasized in the document.

The surge of violence in Idlib was the result of the intensification of terrorists, noted in the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that the Syrian troops were forced to respond to increased terrorist activity.
