OREANDA-NEWS Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has expressed dissatisfaction with the circumstances that prevented the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Belgrade. He said this during a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, according to TASS, Gazeta.ru reports.

According to the press service of the President, Vucic said that in spite of everything Serbia will defend its independence and make political decisions independently.

The Serbian leader noted that the country will continue on the European course, but will maintain friendly and partnership relations with countries on all the continents. Vucic also added that Serbia will continue its military neutrality.

Earlier, Bulgaria, Montenegro and North Macedonia forbade the plane of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to cross their airspace. As a result, the minister's visit to Serbia, scheduled for June 6-7, was cancelled.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov himself called this situation unthinkable and said that Serbia's international activities in terms of Russian destinations were blocked because of the restrictions on the plane.
