OREANDA-NEWS The Latvian Saeima passed in the second and final reading amendments to the law banning rallies near monuments to Soviet soldiers. It is informed about it by press-service of the Latvian parliament.

It is noted that the Sejm of the Baltic republic adopted amendments to the law on meetings, marches and pickets, which prohibit organizing such events within 200 meters of "any monument glorifying the victory and memory of the Soviet army or its soldiers in Latvia.

Earlier it was reported that public meetings with the use of St. George's ribbons, Russian and USSR flags and Soviet military uniforms were temporarily banned in Estonia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs specified that the ban will be in effect from 26 April to 10 May in Tallinn and the counties of Harju County and Ida-Viru County, to "avoid provocations.
