Ministry of Industry and Trade: Russian Programmers Will Cope with Import Substitution

OREANDA-NEWS Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Shpakzayev said that Russian software producers will cope with the challenges of import substitution for critical infrastructure facilities, TASS reports.
He stressed that the restrictions of foreign investors gave a positive dynamic in the development of domestic software and additional incentives for the organization of import substitution. Shpak noted that due to the introduction of the ban in Russia on the purchase of foreign software, state companies are reviewing their procurement policies and Russian specialists will cope with their demand for domestic solutions.
On March 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the technological independence of Russia, which implies, in particular, a ban on the purchase of foreign software for objects of critical information structure of Russia. Since January 1, 2025, public authorities will also be forbidden to use foreign software at such facilities without the approval of the authorized executive body.
