OREANDA-NEWS Murmansk has received the status of the library capital of Russia in 2023. This is reported by TASS, according to Gazeta.ru.

According to the Minister of Culture of the region Olga Obukhova, 12 model libraries have already been opened in the region and by the end of 2022 there will be 7 more spaces for reading.

At the closing ceremony the representatives of the library capital of 2022, Nizhny Novgorod, handed over to the members of the librarianship from Murmansk the symbol of the event of the current year. It was the ship "Meteor".

"This is a hydrofoil vessel, which was invented in Nizhny Novgorod by a brilliant Russian designer Rostislav Alekseev. We decided to combine it with folk arts and crafts - Cossack filingran," - noted the Minister of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod region Oleg Berkovich.

Earlier it was reported that a library will be opened on the 89th floor of the Federation Tower as a part of "Biblionochi".
