OREANDA-NEWS The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that Russia will be forced to take reciprocal steps of both military and technical and other nature to eliminate threats to its national security due to Finland's accession to NATO. This is reported on the website of the Foreign Ministry, Gazeta.ru reported.

The Russian ministry stresses that Moscow has repeatedly stated that Finland has the right to choose how to ensure its national security, but that Helsinki must understand the level of responsibility and the consequences of its accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

It is noted that Finland's membership in NATO would seriously damage relations between Moscow and Helsinki and the maintenance of stability and security in the North European region.

The ministry points out that NATO in this case has one goal - to continue expanding to Russia's borders, to create another flank for a military threat to Russia.

Earlier it was reported that the president and prime minister of Finland supported the country's urgent accession to NATO.
