OREANDA-NEWS The editorial board of The New York Times believes that Ukraine's military victory over Russia with the return of territories that Kiev lost in eight years is unrealistic, RIA Novosti reports, according to Gazeta.ru.

It is noted that despite Russia's careless planning and actions, its army remains too strong.

The paper also argues that if the conflict leads to real negotiations, it will be Kiev that will have to make painful decisions about disputed territories, which Russia will demand to reach a compromise.

In addition, the editorial board believes that bellicose statements by U.S. politicians are not conducive to closer negotiations. That is why US President Joe Biden needs to make it clear to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainians that there are limits to US and NATO support.

Earlier, Politico urged the collective not to give Kiev "false hopes".
