OREANDA-NEWS. The Swiss government is preparing to send 30 thousand notifications to organizations so that they are ready to reduce consumption in the event of power outages, reports "Moscow 24".

The Swiss authorities announced that in winter the country may not have enough energy to provide businesses and citizens with electricity. The population and organizations were warned about the need to reduce its consumption. This is reported by the newspaper NZZ am Sonntag.

The government will send out notices to businesses to be prepared to reduce energy consumption in the event of an outage. It is noted that even if one large power plant stops working, the country may be completely de-energized for two days.

In a crisis situation, ordinary citizens will also be asked to save electricity. In particular, the use of swimming pools, escalators and air conditioners may be prohibited.

It is also noted that if Switzerland is faced with a shortage of electricity, the losses, according to various estimates, will amount to 4 billion Swiss francs per day.

The Association of Swiss Electricity Companies proposes to build about 2,000 small gas power plants in the country to improve energy security. They can be distributed over the territory of the country and used when there is a shortage of capacity. But this project can only be implemented by 2050.
