OREANDA-NEWS. On July 15, a power outage became a cause of a blackout in the entire island of Tenerife (Spain, Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands) which means that about 1 million people suffered from it.

This was reported by personnel of the local emergency service 112 on its Twitter page. Now in some areas of the island, power supply is gradually recovering. The company Red Electrica informed on Twitter that the outage occurred at 9:43 local time, and specialists managed to restore electricity supply on Tenerife by 20 %. The cause of the malfunction is still unknown.

In September last year, a similar incident already took place in Tenerife. Then it was reported that the cause of a power outage on the island could be an explosion at a substation.
