OREANDA-NEWS. The law abolishing the free economic zone with Crimea in Ukraine was published on Friday in the official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada "Voice of Ukraine" and will come into force in three months.

The SEZ with Crimea was established in 2014. The Ukrainian authorities did not collect any taxes from the citizens of the country living on the territory of the peninsula, as well as the tax on compulsory state pension insurance. After that, protests were held in Ukraine demanding the repeal of the law. In July 2021, the Rada adopted a law abolishing the FEZ. On Thursday, August 19, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed it.

According to the text of the document, the law will enter into force in three months from the day following the day of its publication.

Earlier in Ukraine, it was proposed to ban the supply of water to Crimea at the legislative level. The corresponding bill was registered by a group of Verkhovna Rada deputies from the factions of the parties "European Solidarity", "Golos" and the deputy group "Trust". In addition, the document proposed to amend the Ukrainian law on the creation of a free economic zone in Crimea and supplement the bill with a "water ban".
