OREANDA-NEWS. After the bombing strikes on Iraq, Yugoslavia, Libya, the US political elites perceive aggression against any sovereign state as a routine, statements by the head of Miami with public calls to bomb Cuba caused shock, Elena Panina, a member of the State Duma's international committee, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the mayor of the American city of Miami Francis Suarez called on the United States to strike at Cuba to overthrow the country's government.

According to Panina, Suarez's statement fully characterizes "the degree of aggressiveness of the American establishment, the level of political and legal culture of the United States."

"The statements of the head of one of the largest US cities with public calls to bomb Cuba caused shock, American politicians have not behaved this way since the Cuban missile crisis. However, Suarez's subsequent explanations, in which he proposed to consider the bombing of Cuba as an example of the US government's response to crisis situations throughout the world and referred to the example of Kosovo, look even more frightening than the initial demarche, "said Panina.

"We see that after the bombing strikes on Iraq, Yugoslavia, Libya, the US political elites perceive aggression against any sovereign state as an absolutely routine, everyday step. Such sentiments in the depths of the American ruling class are a huge potential threat to peace and security on the planet," she stated Panin.

Protests in Cuba began on Sunday 11 July. Thousands of people took part in the demonstrations, demanding "free elections" and solving social problems. Supporters of the Cuban government, after the president's call to take to the streets and repulse provocations, held their own marches in the cities of the country.
